One of my favorite books encourages us to look at our dark side-not to affirm that reality but instead so that we might dispel our fears, "undo" the false and become open to what is true. I enjoy photographing reflected surfaces upside down in the camera. I then flip the images so what you see are the mirror image of "reality." The light and air interacts with the water to create various states of impressions of the "truth." What is "real"-the image I see in the water or that which it reflects? To me, recording the moments of deep Stillness within these landscapes is my journey. Seeing just what is-in front of me-moment to moment is my practice. Clarifying the images or creating compositions from them allows the piece to shine and cast its calm on the viewer. I see these images as salves and memories of another way of seeing, both within and without. May all of you be blessed by all you see in the world around you and by these memories of now moments.
